Have you all heard yet? Sharon will be teaching at Oasis Dance Camp West! We hope that one or two of our loveley inFusionistas will be able to go as well, if not for the whole time at least for the gala camp hafla on Saturday night! Alas, I will have to miss it, since I'll be out of the country---but I'll be cheering on my girls!

Oasis Dance Camp West
Wednesday, October 11, 2006 - Sunday, October 15, 2006
Vashon Island, WA
www.oasisdancecamp.com/west.asp

The Oasis Dance Camps is proud to offer, for the 22nd year, the most unique and exciting Middle Eastern dance experience for dancers the world over. Oasis is seriously about dance. It’s about demanding classes, working hard, sweating, getting up early and going to bed late. It’s about opening your mind and challenging your body. Oasis is also about maximum enjoyment and inspiration, meeting old friends and making new friends from all over the world and having fun. Leave your stress behind for an exhilarating four days of dance and discovery. You will return inspired, renewed and a better dancer! Class sessions are arranged to provide the best instruction for dancers of all levels. Some are broken down into small groups by skill level to allow progress at a pace comfortable for you.

And Camp isn't just about classes! Evening fashion shows, henna parties, and haflas are the icing on the cake. We spend lots of time laughing and sharing, dancing and sweating, and above all learning. Oasis is an amazing, unique camp experience you won't want to miss!

About the Instructors:
-----------------------------
Cassandra Shore
-----------------------------
OASIS and Cassandra go hand in hand. Cassandra is the reason there is an Oasis Dance Camp. Regardless of your level of dance experience, you will come away from classes with her a better dancer. She is a superb teacher, patient, inspiring but not intimidating. Her technique classes challenge the most competent dancers while bringing newer students up a few levels. (S-Cassandra is the reason I come to camp every year. She is simply one of the top teachers in the US if not the world--amazing ability to make a class challenging for *all* levels simultaneously, great sense of humor...well worth the "price of admission")

------------------------------------------
Guest Instructor 2006
Meera
------------------------------------------
Daughter of international ethnic dancer Zarina Varma and classical Indian Tabla player Raj Varma, Meera's musical upbringing has trained her to be an artist since the age of four. Having lived all over the world, at a very young age this Multi-Award Winning Dancer has had the opportunity to perform on a global stage. Her most recent trips abroad include performances and workshops in places such as Paris, Egypt and New Zealand. Meera will teach Bollywood Dance as the guest teacher at Oasis South and West in 2006

----------------------------------------------
Special Treat: Exploring TRIBAL!
with Sharon Moore
----------------------------------------------
This year, tribal comes to Oasis! Sharon Moore will be teaching classes in beginning tribal group improv, so if you've always wanted to know more about this captivating style, this is your chance to give it a shake. Sharon is known for her funky, upbeat performances and warm, humor-filled teaching style. Her unique approach to tribal bellydance encourages dancers to express their full range of emotions, from slow and slinky to energetic, joyful exuberence! By the end of camp, you will have a better understanding of how group improvisation works, a new appreciation for the tribal aesthetic in its many diverse forms, and will possess a small arsenal of movements and cues to be able to dance in spontaneous synchronicity with other tribal bellydancers anytime, anywhere. Sharon's troupe, inFusion Tribal, will also be making an appearance at the Oasis West hafla to share this beautiful dance in its polished, professional form.

I heard about the camp way before I had heard of Sharon and completely forgot about it until I saw the ad again! My goodness, Sharon is doing workshops at all the fests that I've looked at! I think that's awesome. Congrats Sharon!

*if I go to all the places she's doing workshops, will she think I'm stalking her?...lol*

      Hey Amy,
Maybe, but I will welcome my northern stalker with open arms.

      :)

I can't tell you enough what a blast Oasis is. Such beautiful surroundings, and just like visiting family every year. Come down and party! Gen might be assisting, even!

Oh, goodness--I see it's on Vashon Island. Is it at Camp Sealth?? Because the idea that one of my favorite dancers is teaching at the camp I worked at three summers running--the best job of my life--oh, it's causing me actual physical pain to realize I can't be there.......

(in any case, how *cool*!! Go, Sharon!)
        :-)

I've always wanted to make it to one of these. Cassandra is so wonderful and ... I've heard some great stories about camp from friends here in Texas that have gone in the past.

We know Cassandra picks good teachers for her camps... so Sharon had to be included !

          Rock on Mz Shay!

          peace, luv and pancakes,
          Z.

::sigh:: I'm just not living right...

Okay Shay, I want you to stare at the center back tassel on my tassel belt and repeat after me....

"East Coast... Must do a workshop on the East coast...so that Kali (who can't even sell GS cookies, so there's no way she can actually sponsor a workshop) can attend."

Now, do an 8 count 3/4 shimmy across the room and you will awake feeling rested....
