      Just confirmed Kitiera as a solo featured performer. One final featured dancer TBA, then on Feb 4th we do the drawing. if anyone wants to perform, write in!!

        Hola lovely dancer,

        I have some non-bellydancin' friends in the Seattle area who'd like to see me dance and I'm wondering if the hafla is a good venue for friends/family to come and watch the dancing. It sounds like an event for dancers...how about for specators?

          Oh absolutely! I think haflas are some of the best times to get a good idea of the dance community-cross-styles, cross-skill levels, and a festive, upbeat, supportive air. Bellydance at its best (and sometimes worst. LOL!)

    Thank you for putting on such a lovely event. The venue was great, the audience was warm, and all of the dancers were so beautiful! And can we say CREATIVE?? It was great to see so many interpretations of dance. Even my boyfriend was excited to see what the second half held. ;)

    A round of applause for everyone involved in putting this together. If there is any way I can help in future events, let me know.

    And ladies of Infusion - Mama Mia!! You gots some moves!!

      Thanks, Amber. It was so great you are back in the dance! I wish I weren't so busy at these things that I can't really visit with everyone. We need an afterparty after every one so I can schmooze myself! And I know I said it before, but...Bjork...floorwork...emotive performance...beautiful feather/coin fusion bra...and the loveliness that is YOU...what a treat. :)

      We had a blast. I wanna go again NOW! AGAIN AGAIN!

        Definitely the best hafla I've been to in a while! Lots of good peeps and a wide array of great performances with heart. Can't beat that.

        Good food too, but no forks :(
        Forks and spoons will be my contribution for next time

          Yeah, we had a bit of a snaffu with the plates/cups/utensils thing. It was my job, and I forgot. I called Renee, and she passed it on to Amy, and somewhere in the translation of all that, the forks didn't arrive. We will have em next time, so don't worry!

          I wanted to chat you up, but darnit! Next time, I may not be performing (I dunno, depends on the timing of it), just MC'ing, which may free me up a bit more depending... Thanks for coming, hot stuff!

        I know! afterparty totally - I just really would like to get in my regular clothes and sip some mint tea and just lounge and talk to everyone. Sounds like a great idea. Seriously.. what a great night that was. Thanks for the compliments.. the bra was made by my friend Therese - hence the dedication - dood she whipped that bra out in like an hour - I was sooooooo impressed!!

        hahaha Thank god I didnt do the Flashdance hahaha shhhh ;)

        If anyone is bored thursday night - I will be my alter ego - Ya Sidra with Pure Cirkus at the Contour for Freaks and Breaks :) Come on down and wiggle with me!!

    Thank you so much for hosting this! We all had so much fun, and it was especially nice to visit afterwards. I really like belonging to the cross-border Tribal community. The whole thing felt so warm and supportive. Can't wait for the next one!

      The feeling is entirely mutual. Myh only complaint was how fast it all goes, and how little time we have. But, we have already seen BBH twice in two months in 2006. I'd call that a good start to a year! LOL

    Wow! What an awesome hafla, Sharon! Stellar! Just stellar! I got to see so many dancers that I'd never seen before that I'd been wanting to see! I was so inspired by the variety, the costumes, the wild music selections, the traditional and non-traditional. It was all just sooo fabulous! When's the next one happening?

      Depends on when we can get the space. I wasn't going to stick with this space--it was a "last resort"--but I really liked it a lot. Hard thing is, the folkloric society has it most every Satruday. So getting it is a crap shoot! We'll let you know!
